I wouldn’t put it past Elite greenhouses that their titan collection offers the most extensive selection of sizes and models within their entire arsenal. With five different ranges of titan greenhouses (and we’re only talking about the freestanding options, not including the lean-to varieties), the 600, 700, 800, 1000 and 1200 titan ranges offer widths to suit any garden, starting at 6ft and up to over 12ft, along with lengths up to an impressive twenty-feet!

Elite titan greenhouses, as we’ve found out by chatting with other Elite greenhouse owners are one of the most popular models from the range. After having the chance to see one for ourselves at a local garden centre, as well as gaining the pros and cons from current owners, we’re delighted to bring you our full Elite titan greenhouse review.

Framing

Possibly one of the strongest greenhouse frames on the market due to the thicker framework, (the thickest I’ve ever seen on a greenhouse personally), each model features a main Titan beam and core-vect technology. The titan beam itself is a heavy-duty, highly durable main bar which offers additional strength to the rest of the already strong frame, helping to increase the overall rigidity. This makes them one of the most reliable greenhouses available, so wherever you plan to place it and whatever weather nature can throw at it, you’ll know it’s built to last.

Alongside this, a metal base plinth provides a solid and sturdy frame for the rest of the greenhouse to be sited on, while making it easier to both install and anchor down to a hardstanding floor. The 600, 700 and 800 model Titans are supplied with the metal base plinth as standard, although, the larger 1000 and 1200 models are optional extras, definitely worthwhile getting if you plan on placing the greenhouse straight onto a hard standing surface such as concrete, patio or slabbed area.

As standard, the frame is provided in silver aluminium. However, can optionally be powder coated in an extensive variety of ten other colour options. These alternate colours include a traditional green, a colourful berry, a vibrant navy and a soothing mocha, which would no doubt help the greenhouse to blend in if placed against a brick wall. Powder coating also adds an extra layer of protection to your greenhouse, helping to protect it from weathering and rust for longer (we’re talking a decade at least) while keeping it looking newer and brighter for longer.

Glazing

After making the hard choice of which frame colour will match your garden setting the best, next up are the glazing options. All models are available in 4mm thick toughened glass, while the 600, 700 and 800 models can also be provided in polycarbonate glazing, if preferred. Both are great from a safety point of view, but price-wise you’ll be looking at paying around 25% more for the polycarbonate due to its added insulating properties. Here’s a look at both options:

The toughened glass on the titans comes in a 4mm thickness and has been tempered to British Standards Standard EN12150 in order to make it toughened, and a lot stronger than the cheaper horticultural glazing which you’ll find on cheaper models. There are two great pro’s for toughened glazing; firstly, in the event of a pane breaking, the glass shatters into tiny pieces rather than dangerous shards - ideal if children and pets are around. Secondly, the panes are provided as ‘long pane’, which are longer panes that fit the whole side of the greenhouse, rather than clipping multiple smaller panes together, making it look neater and fit more easily with bar capping.

Polycarbonate glazing is the second option, but is classed as an upgrade so will cost you a bit more. Polycarbonate isn't actually glass, but a virtually unbreakable plastic sheeting. The polycarbonate glazing on an Elite titan greenhouse is 6mm thick and twin-walled, meaning that it does a great job at keeping the heat inside of your greenhouse as it can’t escape as easily as entering. It’s also the safest glazing option, as being plastic there are no safety concerns over it ever shattering. The only downside to this type of polycarbonate is the fact that the glazing isn’t clear, but more of an opaque finish, which some gardener's don't like the overall appearance of.

Additionally, the bar capping included as standard reinforces the glazing by securing it in place, aiding against water ingress. If you choose to have your greenhouse frame powder coated, then the bar capping can also be provided in a matching colour, or one different. A popular choice is to have black bar capping with frame colours such green or navy to give it a more modern look.

Feature Highlights

Vents & Louvre
Each size titan is supplied with at least one roof vent and one side louvre window. Larger size models such as the 14ft lengths come with an impressive four roof vents, while the 18ft and 20ft versions with six roof vents - giving ample control over the temperature and humidity inside. The included louvre window is a large, 10-blade window fit into the side of the greenhouse, also allowing you to open and close it as needed to help with airflow inside.

Double Door with Low Threshold Entry
Double doors with a real key locking mechanism - now we’re talking! Each titan not only boasts double sliding doors but a locking mechanism to help secure your growing plants, as well as keeping pets and children out when you’re not around.

Underneath the double doors, you’ll find a low-threshold entry, which basically means that there’s no high support bar or frame for you to step over, just a small thin strip on the floor which helps to keep the door frame in place and stable. This is extremely beneficial for moving a wheelbarrow in and out, as well as for gardeners who need assistance moving around in a wheelchair, as they won’t be obstructed from entering or exiting or need a ramp to get inside.

High Tensile Bolts
Nut and bolt fixings supplied with titans are crafted to be high-tensile, boosting their strength up to two and a half times more stronger than standard versions. This ensures that each bolt stays put, tight and will not shear over time.

Cantilever Supports
Cantilevers are support bars which reinforce the frame. Across each section on the greenhouse’s main frame you’ll find the addition of a cantilever. Ideal for those living in windy locations as your greenhouse will have additional strength and rigidity to combat all types of weather.

Review Conclusion

In conclusion to this Elite titan greenhouse review - with 36 differently sized models, one of the strongest frames available on the market and the array of available customisations, accessories and standard features, this is likely one of the best greenhouses range I’ve ever had the chance to see and write about. If you’re looking for strength, a super long lifespan and plenty of options to make your new greenhouse your own, then one of these will no doubt make a perfect choice that you definitely won’t regret.

Rating

Assembly - A good, detailed instruction manual is provided, although for the larger models expect installation to range from 6 hours up to 1-2 days. Just ensure that you have a hardstanding base for it to sit on such as a concrete area, paving slabs or patio.

Quality - Amazing quality, amazing strength, amazing features, what else is there to say?

Range - You’ll find an almost infinite amount of size, colour and accessory options to truly make this greenhouse your own.

Value - In general, all Elite greenhouses are on the higher end of the price tag, but the quality, features, strength from the Titan main frame, quality of fittings and overall finish more than makes it a worthwhile investment, lasting well beyond the initial 10-year guarantee.

Warranty - A 10-year frame warranty is supplied as standard. This isn't as long as what other brands offer, but considering the quality, we wouldn't be surprised if these greenhouses stay standing for many decades to comes.
